Full-time position available with KCMO’s Human Resources Department, Labor & Employee Relations Division, 414 East 12th Street. Normal Workdays/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Serves primarily as a guide for departments in administering policies and practices overseen by Labor & Employee relations. Serves as a facilitator of Labor and Employee Relations portion of New Employee Processing, Human Resources Management Academy, and employee trainings, which cover workplace expectations and tools. Performs grievance hearings, performance appraisal appeals, support drug and alcohol administration and unemployment. Duties include but are not limited to: Serves as a note taker/hearing officer for grievances and investigations. Meets with employees, answering emails and phone calls to provide information to employees, supervisors, and managers regarding routine labor & employee relation issues, City policies and practices, and union collective bargaining agreements. Facilitates the weekly New Employee Processing training. Facilitates and develops other Labor & Employee Relations trainings. Assists with revising and communicating policies/procedures. Works with unions to schedule grievance hearings, attending grievance hearings and learning the grievance procedure. Assists with the organization of HR Board Hearings, notices and scheduling. Supports the administration of policies overseen by Labor & Employee Relations. Assists with answering phones, responding to emails, filing, calendar management, drafting documents, and scheduling. Supports departments in the administration of policies and any resulting policy violation disciplinary processes. Performs other duties as needed within the division.

Human Resources Specialist REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of professional human resource experience in a business or public sector organization. Must possess a valid state-issued driver’s license in accordance with City of KCMO policies.

Senior Human Resources Specialist REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional human resource experience in a business or public sector organization including 2 years’ experience at the level of Human Resources Specialist. Must possess a valid state–issued driver’s license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies. Preference given for prior labor & employee relations environment experience.

Human Resources Specialist: Salary Range: $21.88-$35.31/hour.

Senior Human Resources Specialist: Salary Range: $4,945-$8,833/month
